Updates

HUD now requires appraisers who complete appraisals for FHA to hold appraisal licenses at the Certified level.  On October 1st, 2009, appraisers who are only "Licensed" were removed from the FHA roster.

In a previous blog posting, I showed you how to look up an appraiser's license status from the Appraisal Subcommittee's website (http://www.asc.gov).

But how do you know if an appraiser is on FHA's approved list (roster)?  Here's how you do it.

Click on https://entp.hud.gov/idapp/html/apprlook.cfm and select your state and then enter the appraiser's last name.  You'll see a list of approved appraisers with that last name.

If your appraiser's name doesn't show up, he/she is not approved to perform FHA appraisals!  That's all there is to it.
