Today is the last day licensed appraisers can be assigned to new FHA case numbers.

Beginning tomorrow, 10/01/2009, all FHA roster appraisers must hold certified level licenses.  Certified Appraiser is a higher level of qualification than standard "licensed" appraiser.  Appraisers who don't hold a certified level license will be dropped from the FHA roster.

Is your appraiser state certified?  Find out by searching their name & state on the national Appraisal Subcommittee National Registry database:  https://www.asc.gov/content/category1/standardSearches.aspx?queryType=6

In California it's easy to quickly identify a certified appraiser by their license number.  Those with "AR" in front of the number are certified.  Those with "AL" or "AT" are not.  For instance, I'm certified and my license number is AR041273.
