The law of unintended consequences!

It's getting harder and harder for good honest appraisers to make a living and many are leaving the industry.  So far in 2009, the state of California has seen a decline of over 5,000 appraisers who are licensed in this state. 

It has never made sense to me to make one of the biggest decisions in your life, buying a home, and using the least qualified and underpaid (i.e. low motivation) appraiser to do the appraisal. 

Even at reduced fees and greater lender & underwriter aggravation, I always strive to provide the most accurate & supportable value conclusions every time I perform an appraisal.
