About Next Appraisal
The company: Next Appraisal, a new and fast-growing appraisal company in Northern California, owned by Steven Philip Gray, has been in business since 2008. Next Appraisal is a certified "micro business" in the state of California. Steven was previously a staff appraiser for World Savings Bank's appraisal department, where he cut his first teeth on the business, and Wachovia Bank. When the banking crisis hit, all staff appraisers were laid off or went out on their own. Steven saw the economic change as an opportunity to launch his own firm.
Lenders, mortgage brokers, homeowners, and attorneys make Next Appraisal a first choice for real estate appraising in Contra Costa County, Alameda County and Solano County (Vallejo), California. State Certified and FHA Approved for HUD insured mortgage appraisals, Next Appraisal specializes in 1 to 4 unit properties and is often at work in: Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, Rodeo, Antioch, Pittsburg, Discovery Bay, Berkeley, Oakland, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Fremont, Union City, Pleasanton, Livermore, Castro Valley, Dublin, Walnut Creek, Concord, Martinez, and Vallejo, as well as all of Alameda and Solano Counties in California.

Steven grew up in South Florida, spent 12 years (6 active/6 Reserve) in the US Navy, and trained as a electronics technician and then systems administration. He doesn't mind admitting he got burned out in the IT field, and developed a new passion for real estate valuation, mentored by some of the best appraisers in the field (the appraisal department at World Savings Bank). If you want to talk shop about something other than real estate, Steven is interested in home improvement (he owns a classic 1926 craftsman-style home that he is remodeling. He also cycles for charity bike rides and travels internationally.
